Sultan Qaboos, trachoma, cholera, malaria, poverty

Since 1970, when Sultan Qaboos came to power and launched Omanís development, poverty has been largely eliminated and modern medical care has been provided throughout the country. Once-widespread diseases like trachoma, malaria, and cholera have either been eliminated or brought under control. Health care facilities are limited in rural areas.
