Economy, LaborIn 2000 the Spanish labor force included 17.4 million people. Some 31 percent were employed in manufacturing, mining, and construction; 7 percent in agriculture, forestry, and fishing; and 62 percent in services. Unemployment soared as high as 14.1 percent during this period. In the early 1990s, about 10 percent of Spain’s workforce was unionized.
