Economy, Forestry and Fishing

The forest resources of Denmark are negligible. All forests have been government reserves since 1805. The large Danish fishing fleet (over 3,200 motorized vessels) plays a significant role in the economy. The total catch in 1997 was 1.9 million metric tons, almost all of which were marine fish. The most important fish caught are herring, plaice, and cod.
