cubic meters, cubic feet, mahogany, Honduras, Forestry

Forestry is an important industry in Honduras; in 2000 roundwood production was 7.41 million cubic meters (262 million cubic feet). A reforestation program has been hampered by rudimentary lumbering methods and poor transportation facilities. Valuable woods cut include pine, mahogany, ebony, walnut, and rosewood. The fish catch in 1997 of 23,585 metric tons was primarily shellfish.
