The Dominican Republic has more than 90 commercial radio stations and an average 178 radio receivers for every 1,000 inhabitants. In addition, the country has several television broadcasters and 95 television sets per 1,000 inhabitants. In 1998 there were 10 daily newspapers, with a combined daily circulation of 416,000; El Caribe and Listin Diario, both issued in Santo Domingo, are influential. There are 105 telephone mainlines in use for every 1,000 inhabitants.
