Agadez, Niamey, Sahel, radio receivers, television sets

Niger has 10,100 km (6,276 mi) of roads, of which about one-third are paved. International airports serve Niamey and Agadez, and the country has more than 20 smaller airfields. Government-controlled radio and television services broadcast in several languages. There were an average 70 radio receivers and 125 television sets for every 1,000 inhabitants in 1997. A daily newspaper, Le Sahel, is published in Niamey.
