Economy, Manufacturing and EnergyManufacturing in Guyana is limited to processing bauxite and to production of foodstuffs, beverages, construction materials, clothing, soap, and cigarettes. In 1999 Guyana generated 455 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, 99 percent of which was produced in thermal facilities. The country has a great potential for producing hydroelectricity.
