Economy, EnergyIn 1999 Sudan produced 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up from 334 million kilowatt-hours in 1968. Supplies of hydroelectricity from large installations at Khashm al Qirbah and Sennar are supplemented by thermal electricity produced in facilities burning refined petroleum.
